Fundraising Totals

I'm excited!!!

My fundraising totals so far are: $ 2,885. Which is over a third of the way towards my goal of raising $8,000.

All I need to do now is mail in all the checks I have received. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! It is because of the generosity of each of you, cancer research will continue. In the coming months I will continue to do my part, by sending out more donation letters, asking for corporate sponorships (any ideas?), maybe holding a fundraising event and of course training for Iron Man by doing my core training, plus swimming, biking and running, and eating....gotta get the fuel in my body.

Go Team!

Racing in Honor of...and in Memory of...

Saturday I cheered on the Treasure Island participates, took pictures, shook a cow bell, and yelled & cheered until my voice was almost gone. During the race, both Jim and Aimee wore jerseys with “In memory of Sonny” and “In honor of Trevor” on their backs as the raced.

Thank You Jim and Aimee

Team Honorees

I wasn't the only one cheering on Team-in-Training participants. Check out Trevor and Emily who stood for hours, yelled and even ran with one or two participants to encouraged them.

Trevor & Barbara

One of the exciting moments was after getting permission from the race announcer to allow Trevor to announce the start of the women's TNT wave. The women loved having Trevor pump them up, and encourage them to do their best. I was thrilled to be a part of the excitment. Posted by Picasa

$100 Million Budget Cut to Cancer Research Funding!!!

LLS ACTION ALERT – $100M budget cut to cancer research funding!
Part of the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is to advocate legislation that maximizes federal research support and patient access to new and existing cancer therapies. The LLS has successfully advocated for pro-patient legislation including doubling National Institute of Health funding over five years to advance blood cancer research and extending Medicare coverage to include such oral anti-cancer drugs as Gleevec and thalidomide. We need your help again! Congress is considering a $100 MILLION CUT in cancer research funding. You may visit our Legislative Action Center, enter your zip code, and send an email or letter to your elected representative expressing your concern about this budget cut. http://capwiz.com/leukemia/index_frame.dbq?url=http://capwiz.com/leukemia/issues/alert/?alertid=8174156&type=CO
