Part of the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is to advocate legislation that maximizes federal research support and patient access to new and existing cancer therapies. The LLS has successfully advocated for pro-patient legislation including doubling National Institute of Health funding over five years to advance blood cancer research and extending Medicare coverage to include such oral anti-cancer drugs as Gleevec and thalidomide.
